Arsenal fans can't believe what the club have done over William Saliba deal

Arsenal fans are delighted by the prospect of landing William Saliba after it was revealed that the 18-year-old is edging closer to a deal with the Gunners.

However, there is one stipulation in the transfer from Saint-Etienne which has many Arsenal fans a little baffled.

Saliba impressed last season for the French club and that led to an array of transfer speculation about his future.

Arsenal and Tottenham were heavily linked but Unai Emery's side are understood to have beaten off the competition from their rivals, according to the BBC.

The Gunners are believed to have agreed a £27million deal but Saliba will be loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the 2019/20 campaign.

This has some Arsenal fans frustrated, with the viewpoint among many supporters that if he is worth that much money he is good enough to be in the mix for the first team now.

However, it's likely a loan back to Saint-Etienne next season was crucial to getting any deal over the line. The price is also as much about the defender's potential than anything else.

Arsenal fans will have to wait until 2020 to see Saliba in action for their side but it will likely be worth the delay.
