Arsenal fans can't believe what Mikel Arteta has done ahead of Wolves clash

Mikel Arteta has named his starting eleven for the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers as they look to close the gap on the European places.

The Arsenal boss has made three changes to the side that beat Southampton 4-0 in their last outing.

Cedric Soares, Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah come in for Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson.

That means that there is no place in the squad for record signing Nicolas Pepe, who is not named on the bench.

Arsenal know that three points will take them to within three points of their opponents, who are challenging for a place in next season’s Champions League and currently occu[y sixth position in the league, just two points behind Chelsea in fourth.

Upon the announcement of the team, Gunners’ fans have taken to social media to give their reaction.

The one question on fans’ lips was the omission of Pepe from the squad entirely.

Here is what they had to say.

Arsenal currently sit in eighth place in the table, a position that could prove to be enough to play European football next season depending on the outcome on Manchester City’s appeal against their Champions League ban.

However, there is a number of teams also with the same target as Arsenal at the end of the campaign, with teams as far down as Crystal Palace and Newcastle in 12th and 13th position.

It has since been revealed that Pepe's omission from the matchday squad is due to the forward's wife going into labour.
