Arsenal face win-lose scenario as Arthur Melo talks put Edu's £38m transfer move in doubt

Juventus look to be plotting revenge on Arsenal due to the north London sides’ unmatchable push for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic by signing their top midfield target in Bruno Guimaraes, which Edu is going to let happen as he reportedly focuses on Arthur Melo instead.

Sky Italia have claimed that the Old Lady are interested in Guimaraes and have previously tried to negotiate a swap deal with their Brazilian midfielder Arthur in hopes of securing his services.

If this deal went ahead, then it would provide a double blow for the Gunners, as they have reportedly identified both midfielders as possible incomings during the January transfer window.

However, RMC Sport are reporting that the north London side is already in advanced negotiations with Arthur, in what could be a risky decision that leads to Juventus signing Guimaraes.

Meanwhile, football.london understands that the Gunners are pushing hard for the Fiorentina striker and would like to complete the signing in the January transfer window.

It seems Arsenal have blown Juventus out of the water with their latest offer for Vlahovic, as the north London side must reportedly be prepared to spend £150 million if they want to complete a move.

The Gunners have been quoted a minimum £58 million transfer fee for the Serbian international, while the player himself will command £160,000-per-week after tax in wages over a five-year contract, according to the Daily Mail.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that he wants to utilise the transfer window in the best way possible.

“I think with the number of things, and the way we want to evolve the squad, we have to maximise every window in many different ways and we are alert.”

Signing a midfielder has also been a priority alongside a striker and with Arteta’s insistence to maximise the market, Arsenal have been linked with players who can solve shortages in the middle of the park.

According to French journalist Nabil Djellit, Arsenal are interested in signing Arthur, whilst Brazilian outlet Globo have said that Lyon are demanding £38m million for Guimaraes.

But It seems that Arsenal are going to compensate Juventus by not battling out for Guimaraes and instead take Arthur on loan from the Italian side.

Edu may come to regret not signing the Lyon midfielder, but Arthur is certainly the more cheaper and experienced alternative.
