Arsenal face new Dominik Szoboszlai transfer hurdle as Zinedine Zidane makes Isco decision

Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing Red Bull Salzburg's Dominic Szoboszlai, who has been linked with a January move to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old midfielder is one of the brightest young talents in world football and is being considered by the Gunners as a cheaper alternative to Lyon's Houssem Aouar, a player the club failed to sign during the summer.

However, it seems as if they could face stiff competition from Real for Szoboszlai's signature.

AS reports that the La Liga giants see him as an option to replace Isco, with the Spanish midfielder falling out of favour under Zinedine Zidane.

He has started just 18 league matches since the beginning of last season and could be sold for as little as £18 million.

Everton are thought to be keen on a deal for the 28-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether Isco will be tempted to rejoin former boss Carlo Ancelotti at the Merseyside club.

It is reported that Szoboszlai's contract contains a cut-price release clause in the region of just £25 million, which could tempt Real into acting on their interest.

Arsenal have been linked with the young midfielder in recent months alongside Aouar, who remains at Lyon despite being tipped for a summer move.

Szoboszlai fired Hungary to Euro 2020 qualification on Thursday with a last-gasp winner deep into stoppage time during Thursday's crucial play-off final against Iceland.

He has also registered six assists and a goal in seven league appearances for Salzburg this season.

The 20-year-old has already been capped eleven times by his country, making his debut in March of last year during a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Slovakia.
