Arsenal face £60m dilemma for David Luiz 'replacement' as Bayer Leverkusen make stance clear

Bayer Leverkusen will not listen to any offers lower than £60million for their defender Edmond Tapsoba.

That's according to Bild, who are reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing Tapsoba, but he will not come cheap.

Leverkusen are demanding £60m (€70m) for his services following a fine season at the heart of their defence in the Bundesliga.

The club's sports director, Simon Rolfes, is planning to have Tapsoba at the club next season.

"Edmond should also play a very important role for us next season," Rolfes told Bild.

The Gunners have been linked with numerous central defenders with David Luiz leaving the club.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that the 34-year-old would be leaving north London after months of talks in mid-May.

Arteta said on Luiz: "After some conversations, we decided that it was the best way to do it now. I tried to help him as much as I possibly could - the club as well.

"I feel sadness as well because you get attached to the players emotionally. Again, I have to say thank you to him."

As reported recently, football.london understands that the Gunners are set for a massive transfer overhaul this summer, with Edu targeting recruitments in at least five positions.

Hector Bellerin is looking increasingly likely to leave the north London club, as well as Granit Xhaka, with Arteta keen to offload some of his players after a really disappointing season.

However, it might be more difficult for Arsenal to attract top talent to the Emirates Stadium this summer, with the side unable to qualify for any European football next season.
