Arsenal are eyeing their own Riyad Mahrez in January as reports claim they are interested in Toulouse FC youngster Fares Chaibi. That's according to FootMercato, who claim that the Gunners are monitoring a switch for the 19-year-old, joined by Sevilla.

The Algerian forward has been compared to Mahrez, who was also signed from France when he joined Leicester City before going on to Manchester City.

Saka contract extension nears

Arsenal are confident of closing in on a contract extension for youngster and academy graduate Bukayo Saka, having been in talks with him over a new deal. That's according to Football Insider, which claims that the Gunners have told sponsors of their confidence surrounding a long-term stay.

The 21-year-old's current deal runs until 2024, though both Mikel Arteta and the forward have discussed their intentions of continuing discussions.

Emmanuel Petit verdict on Kante

Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has given his verdict on Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante, having been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer next summer. Discussing the Frenchman's absence from the national team for the World Cup, he told 90Min: "I'm worried that we miss Pogba and Kanté in midfield. In modern football most of the time games are won in midfield. Both Pogba and Kanté were extraordinary when they won the World Cup four years ago."
