Arsenal are expected to make a third and final bid for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney before the closure of the Premier League transfer window on Thursday.
Celtic have rejected two offers from the Gunners for Tierney this summer, the latter potentially matching their £25million price tag but through clauses that the Scottish champions were not necessarily convinced that Arsenal would meet.
Arsenal are also prioritising a centre-back - Dayot Upamecano and Daniele Rugani are among their targets - but there is belief at the Emirates that a deal for the Scotland international can also be done.
Meanwhile Celtic head coach Neil Lennon admits he is expecting another bid for Tierney.
"I know these deals can get done at a minute to twelve," Lennon said. "I'd be surprised if there wasn't another offer for Kieran, but delighted.
"He'll be fit in a week or two. He still has some adductor pain, but I think the pubic problem is starting to settle and he’s over the double hernia."
Arsenal have long been keen on Tierney and are eager to strengthen a left-back position that was often a weak link for them during Unai Emery's first season at the club.
Neither Nacho Monreal nor Sead Kolasinac have necessarily convinced in the role but former Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes they can be used to plug the gap in the position and that their transfer priorities should lie elsewhere.
"There’s talk of Kieran Tierney coming in at left-back but Arsenal are quite well covered there with Kolasinac and Monreal," he told football.london.
"Central defence is perhaps the position he should look at but Holding is back from injury. We don't know how well it's going, Emery may feel he's going to play a prominent role and that he doesn't need to sign a player in that position."
