Arsenal exits for Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny still possible after English transfer deadline

Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny from European clubs up until the August 31 deadline.

The transfer window in England closed on Thursday but foreign sides can still buy players from England for the rest of the month and Mustafi’s availability has been circulated for some time.

Although there has been some interest from France and Germany, no formal offers have been made for the 27-year-old, who was once again the target of criticism among supporters during pre-season as his defensive error gifted Barcelona victory in the Camp Nou last weekend.

The Gunners are keen to recoup the majority of the £35million they paid Valencia in 2016 and would prefer a straight sale as opposed to a loan with an option to buy.

Laurent Koscielny has departed after forcing a move to Bordeaux and Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is keen to partner new signing David Luiz with Rob Holding once the latter returns from injury.

Calum Chambers has also been given a series of opportunities during pre-season while Kieran Tierney, a £25m arrival from Celtic on Thursday, can play as a makeshift centre-back, albeit preferably in a three-man defence.

Elneny was this week in talks with a move to Galatasaray but as yet the Turkish club have failed to reach an agreement with the midfielder or Arsenal.
