Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Monday 5 October
Guendouzi joins Hertha Berlin on loan
Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have signed Arsenal midfielder Mattel Guendouzi on loan until the end of the season.
Guendouzi has made 82 appearances for the Gunners since signing from Lorient in 2018, but despite a strong first season he has found himself largely on the bench since Mikel Arteta took over last year.
The 21-year-old’s attitude was also called into question last June, and he has a reputation as a somewhat spiky character having courted controversy at Lorient too.
However, his talents are undeniable, and Gunners could see him back at the Emirates next season should he impress on loan.
Ferdinand’s Partey verdict
Arsenal are pushing for last-minute move for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, having been heavily linked with the midfielder all summer.
In April, former England captain Rio Ferdinand delivered his verdict on the Ghanaian, and thinks the Gunners should go in for the 27-year-old.
"I'd maybe go get [Thomas] Partey from Atletico Madrid or [Wilfred] Ndidi from Leicester," Ferdinand said on The Beautiful Game podcast in April.
A deal looks likely to be completed with the player flying to London following a medical in Madrid, and Arsenal boss Arteta praised the Gunners board for backing his move for the player. He said: “Believe me, the ownership and the board and doing everything they can to maximise the resources and make this club successful. I have 100 per cent backing for them. Whatever we can do, they are willing to do it, to support us”
Saliba set for loan move
Arsenal are willing to let defender William Saliba leave on loan this summer, according to the Daily Express.
Saliba signed from St Etienne last summer before returning to the French club on loan. And while he was originally in Arteta’s plans this season the arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes has pushed the Frenchman down the pecking order.
The Gunners are now keen to send him out on loan to give him more minutes and experience, and the Telegraph are reporting that Fulham could take him off their hands.
Fulham have struggled for clean sheets this season, and Saliba could Cottagers boss Paul Parker shore things up at the back.
