Arsenal evening headlines as transfer talks for Sweden wonderkid are confirmed, Saka contract

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines for Tuesday June 30.

Arsenal meet with Swedish youngster

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in 17-year-old Swedish striker Emil Roback, according to reports.

The youngster has turned heads in Europe this season while playing for Swedish side Hammarby, with Bayern Munich among the other sides chasing his signature.

And Hammarby sporting director Jesper Jansson has confirmed that Roback paid a visit to Arsenal’s training ground in London Colney ahead of a potential move.

“There is a strong interest …he has also been to Arsenal," he told Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt. “I understand the interest.

"He is a forward with a great physique and speed and already a skilled scorer.”

Contract talks with future stars

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Gunners are looking to strike new deals with Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun.

Saka has become a first-team regular at the Emirates this season, while Balogun is tipped as one of the most promising youngsters currently in Arsenal’s academy.

But both players have contracts that expire next summer, and so Arteta is keen to have the two commit to long-term futures with the club.

“I’m not worried because I know the club is trying to keep them," Arteta said during his pre-match press conference at the weekend . “They know how much I like working with them and hopefully we can find agreements with them."

Arsenal eye up Brazil star on a free

The Gunners are chasing Brazil and Paris Saint-German star Thiago Silva, according to Le 10 Sport .

The Brazilian’s contract with the French champions expires this summer, and a flurry of European sides keen on the 35-year-old international.

Arteta has reportedly held discussions with Silva about a move to the Emirates, with Silva’s close friend and countryman David Luiz acting as an intermediary as talks continue.

Silva has been one of the world’s best centre-backs over the past 10 years, earning 89 caps for Brazil and turning out over 300 times for PSG.

With Arsenal in the market for a centre-back, he could certainly plug a hole in an often leaky defence in north London.
