Arsenal evening headlines as Thomas Partey interest intensifies, Dayot Upamecano transfer hint

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Tuesday 14th April:

Suspicion over alleged Partey bid

Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been subject to considerable interest from a number of European clubs – including Arsenal.

The Ghanaian is said to have a £43.5 million release clause, which Arsenal are said to have bid for his services. However, these reports do not tally with the Gunners’ current financial situation.

Arsenal behind the scenes on the impact on transfers this summer and the next great creative midfielder

Arsenal have been tasked with cost-cutting, which included the suggestion that key players such as Héctor Bellerín would take a 12.5% pay cut over the next 12 months.

Therefore, a big-money bid for Partey is not in keeping with Head of Football Raul Sanllehi’s current approach.

Upamecano transfer boost

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is another player who has piqued the interest of many top European sides.

Upamecano’s barber and Instagram personality @hd_cutz_london posted an Instagram story showing a picture of the French defender and the emojis synonymous with the signing of a contract.

This has sparked speculation that the London-based barber has inside knowledge of Upamecano’s next move.

The 21-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season and having yet to agree a new deal with RB Leizpig, could move on this summer.

Story behind Martinelli’s celebration

Arsenal’s newest teenage sensation Gabriel Martinelli has opened up on his goal celebration against Chelsea back in January.

Speaking to the official Arsenal app, Martinelli said, "I already had the idea of celebrating like that if I scored. It was funny because I'd said to my mother the night before that I was going to score.

“She was making dinner and I was in the kitchen with her and my father and I said to her that I was going to score and asked what she thought about celebrating like that.

"She said, 'Go for it!"

Martinelli became the first teenager to score double figures in a single campaign for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka.
