Arsenal evening headlines as Saliba and three wonderkids nominated, predicted teams vs Man City

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Tuesday, June 16.

William Saliba leads quartet of Arsenal youngsters on Golden Boy longlist

Arsenal fans have been given further cause to be excited about the prospect of William Saliba’s loan return, with the Gunners centre-back on the longlist for the Golden Boy award.

The centre-back, who has spent the season on loan at former club Saint-Etienne, is one of four Gunners men on Tuttosport’s 100-strong longlist.

Saliba has played 15 times this season, having sealed a £27m Arsenal switch last summer, and is one of a number of Frenchmen on the list.

Everything Mikel Arteta said ahead of Manchester City return

Arsenal fans will also be pleased with the inclusion of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka after their breakthrough campaigns, as well as next-big-thing Trae Coyle.

Martinelli has scored 10 times in his first season in European football, while Saka has impressed on the left side, especially under Mikel Arteta.

Coyle, meanwhile, has been training with the first team and will be hopeful of making his Premier League debut before the end of the season.

Predicted Arsenal line-ups vs Manchester City

More than three months have passed since Arsenal were last in Premier League action, and a lot has changed since they beat West Ham 1-0 in March.

Players have returned from injury, giving Mikel Arteta new selection dilemmas, while the ability to make five substitutions could factor into the manager’s thinking.

Hector Bellerin and Dani Ceballos both returned to fitness shortly before the lay-off, while Kieran Tierney is available again, and there are also questions about where best to deploy Bukayo Saka and who should get the nod up front.

We’ve asked a number of writers on the football.london desk to come up with their predicted line-ups for the trip to Manchester City, which could give Arteta’s team a chance to make up ground on their rivals for European spots before the rest of the clubs return to Premier League action on the weekend.

The Roma players Arsenal could target in Mkhitaryan swap deal

Arsenal have been linked with Justin Kluivert as part of a deal which would take Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Roma on a permanent basis.

Such a move would allow the Gunners to get Mkhitaryan’s wages off the bill, while bringing in a much younger player with experience of top-level European football.

However, Kluivert might not be the only Giallorossi player who could improve Arsenal’s squad, and others might not even cost the club as much money in part-exchange.

We’ve taken a look at four potential candidates , including a former Premier League striker and one of the hottest young talents in Europe, all of whom could become much more affordable if signed as part of a deal involving Mkhitaryan moving the other way.

The Armenian certainly seems keen on a switch after scoring six times in Serie A this season, so it makes sense for Arsenal to consider their options.
