Arsenal evening headlines as Real Madrid make Luka Jovic decision, Partey urged to seal transfer

Here are the latest Arsenal headlines for Tuesday, June 9.

Mikel Arteta has the solution to an Arsenal problem

Nicolas Pepe’s time at Arsenal has caused a divide among the fan base.

The former Lille forward managed 22 goals and 11 assists during his final Ligue 1 season, and it was hoped he could transfer that form across to the Premier League after agreeing a £72million transfer.

It hasn’t entirely gone that way for Pepe at the Emirates, and it is unclear just how to get the best out of the forward. Tashan Deniran-Alleyne believes one way Pepe could aid the Arsenal cause is from a dead ball.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

He has written about the club’s lack of a dangerous free-kick taker, and how that could improve his time at Arsenal and benefit Arteta.

Arsenal targeting Real Madrid player on loan

Arsenal are battling AC Milan for Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic, according to Sport.

Jovic, 22, joined Los Blancos from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but has struggled to earn regular first-team opportunities.

Collecting 391 minutes across 15 league games for the club, Jovic has managed to find the net twice during that time.

It has seen him linked with a loan move away from the club this summer, with Arsenal said to be interested. Real Madrid have had a tough time with Jovic of late, including his decision to break lockdown rules to travel to Serbia from Spain, to attend his girlfriend’s birthday.

The newspaper claims Real Madrid addressed this incident by confirming they gave the 22-year-old permission to travel. He later skipped quarantine in his own country to compound matters.

According to the report, this has seen the club lose patience with Jovic, and they are now considering a loan deal to get him away from the club.

Thomas Partey urged to join Gunners

Thomas Partey has been encouraged to join Arsenal and ‘prove himself’ in the Premier League, by Ghana teammate Joseph Attamah Larweh.

Partey, 26, is currently on the books of Atletico Madrid but has been consistently linked with a move to the Gunners.

It is believed he has a £43million release clause in his contract, although Diego Simeone is keen to extend his deal and double that clause.

FootballGhana editor Samuel Ekow Amoasi Appiah recently claimed Partey is determined to play for Arsenal and now Attamah Larweh has encouraged him to move to north London.

“I will be happy if he goes to Arsenal,” he told Ghanaian outlet Citi Sports.

“He has done everything at Atletico and is recognised as one of his best players. He also has to go to a different league to prove himself.

“He needs people to know that he is capable of succeeding in other places and not only in Spain.”
