Arsenal evening headlines as RB Salzburg confirm Szoboszlai January exit and Saka injury update

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines for Wednesday, November 25.

Arteta gives update on Saka injury

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted Bukayo Saka is “very doubtful” for tomorrow night’s Europa League clash against Molde.

The youngster was forced off in last weekend’s goalless draw against Leeds United with what appeared to be a dead leg.

But Arteta has revealed that Saka may struggle to make Sunday’s game against Wolves.

“It's very doubtful at the moment,” Arteta said. “He was in a lot of pain in the last few days. We will have to assess what will happen a day before the game. Whether he's fit or not we will try to find the players against Wolves.”

Wilshere surprised by Arteta’s Ozil decision

Jack Wilshere has admitted he was “surprised” by Mikel Arteta’s decision to leave Mesut Ozil out of his Premier League and Europa League squads this season.

The Germany international has been a peripheral figure at Arsenal in recent seasons, and now finds himself completely frozen out.

But former Gunners midfielder Wilshere, who played alongside Ozil, has claimed the 32-year-old remains good enough for “any team in the Premier League”.

“Yes, I am [surprised], because I played with him and I used to love playing with him,” Wilshere told the ITV Football Show.

“I really enjoyed it and he is one of the best I have played with, so, yes, I am surprised. But there is obviously something that we don't know because a player of his quality [should be playing].

“I reckon he could get into any team in the Premier League, that is my opinion, and to not even have the opportunity to compete for a place is difficult to understand.

“But there must be a reason, I don't know.”

RB Salzburg chief backs Szoboszlai to join ‘big club’

RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has admitted he expects Dominik Szoboszlai to join a “big club”.

The Hungarian midfielder has been linked with a host of Europe’s top teams, including Arsenal, after excelling in Austria.

And Freund has reluctantly accepted that the 20-year-old will earn a high-profile transfer in the near future.

“Of course you would like to have the player in the club as long as possible,” he told Sky Sport Austria. “On the other hand, it is also healthy if he takes the next step at the right time.

“Let’s see what happens in winter, but there is a high probability that he will move to a big club. That is definitely a next step in development so that he can tap this potential and this performance with every game.”
