Arsenal evening headlines as Raul Sanllehi mistake highlighted, Santi Cazorla's coaching offer

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines for Wednesday, June 10.

Lehmann highlights major Sanllehi mistake

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has questioned the Gunners’ football hierarchy after they chose to appoint former boss Unai Emery in 2018.

Emery was sacked earlier in the season, with Mikel Arteta replacing his countryman. Lehmann was an assistant coach at the Gunners a couple of years ago under Arsene Wenger, but the backroom staff were replaced with Emery’s appointment.

The former Germany goalkeeper has questioned whether that was the right decision, talking to Stadium Astro: “I was there as an assistant coach two years ago but then Arsene left and they have changed the whole managerial team and I think they made a mistake by choosing the wrong guys.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

“The people at the top sometimes don’t know what I know about football and they didn’t experience how to win things. So it’s not easy for them. I think he wanted to bring his own staff who couldn’t even speak English. Then a guy like me, who was a player for them, I think he just didn’t want us.”

Cazorla reveals Gunners coaching offer

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has admitted he has made a decision over his future but will not reveal what it is just yet.

The 35-year-old has been playing for Villarreal this season, and has enjoyed a great campaign for the La Liga side.

However, Cazorla’s deal runs out in the summer and has used the postponement of football to help him make a decision, with his old team-mate Arteta offering him a route back to the Gunners as a coach.

“I have already made my decision, but right now is not the time to say anything,” the Spaniard said to Cadena SER.

“I have an idea of what I want, but in due course, I will reveal what I’ve decided. Now is not the time because we have to be focused on competing.”

Gunners may use past mistakes to advantage in the summer

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is out-of-contract in the summer and Arsenal could take advantage of a problem that has haunted them for years now, as Jake Polden of the Mirror writes.

Arsenal have reportedly expressed their interest in Fraser this summer, with the £15-million-rated winger available on a free transfer.

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in the Scotland international, and the two clubs could go head-to-head in the summer.

The Gunners could land Fraser, and would not have to pay him huge wages either, with the players’ current situation, the article suggests.
