Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Monday, August 10th.
QPR star hopeful of dream Arsenal move
After a brilliant Championship season, Queens Park Rangers midfielder Eberechi Eze would love a dream move to Arsenal, per the Daily Star.
Eze, 22, scored 14 goals in an excellent individual campaign and has attracted interest from across the Premier League. Crystal Palace have already had a £14 million bid rejected, while David Moyes is keen to bring the youngster to West Ham United. QPR, however, are holding out for £20 million.
If Eze had his way however, he would move to Arsenal. He supported the Gunners as a kid, was in and out of the youth set-up during his development, eventually being released at 13, and would be over the moon with a return to the Emirates.
Whether an approach materialises or not remains to be seen. Mikel Arteta is conducting a rebuild of the squad and goalscoring wingers and midfielders are a key need, but with Willian expected to arrive on a free transfer, Eze may find himself off Arsenal’s wishlist.
Arsenal on verge of two major deals
As Arteta enters his first summer as Arsenal head coach and looks to build the squad in the way that he wants, the club is on the verge of two major deals that will define the team over the coming years, football.london can report.
Willian is expected to sign this week after officially departing from Chelsea. The player announced his Stamford Bridge exit on social media and is ready to put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Arsenal. The 32-year-old rejected a two-year offer from the Blues as well as interest from Barcelona, and is expected to earn around £100,000 per week.
Another deal that is nearly completed is a new contract for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The club captain and top goalscorer had one year remaining on his current deal and may have looked for an exit should Arsenal not have secured European football with their FA Cup final victory.
Instead, Aubameyang is now ready to agree terms on a three-year deal worth more than £250,000 per week. It will see him continue as the Gunners’ leading man well into his thirties.
Gabriel Magalhaes transfer boost
As Arsenal’s search for a centre-back continues, the club has received a boost in their potential pursuit of young Lille defender, Gabriel Magalhaes.
The 22-year-old was left out of Lille’s preseason squad against AZ Alkmaar on Saturday and has been strongly linked with an exit throughout the summer. And now it seems as though Lille are preparing for life with Gabriel in tow.
Journalist Alexandre Ernst reported that the Ligue 1 side have signed Bruno Fuchs from Inter Milan for a fee of around £6.7 million. The deal potentially frees up Gabriel to leave, with Arsenala potential landing spot.
Per ESPN , the defender is keen on a move to Arsenal but also has interest from Everton and Manchester United. The report states that he was planning to make a decision on his future at the weekend.
