David Luiz’s future to be decided by the end of the week
Arsenal defender David Luiz’s future at the club will be decided later this week, according to the Brazilian’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
Luiz’s deal at the Gunners is set to expire in the summer and football.london understands an option of a one-year extension has now ran out.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Joorabchian admitted Luiz’s future at the Emirates Stadium will be decided by the end of this week after a nightmare performance against Manchester City on Wednesday.
“The situation from Arsenal’s point of view will be resolved this week. Not just David Luiz’s situation. There are several issues within the whole structure that will be resolved,” Joorabchian said.
Mesut Ozil breaks silence after being dropped
Mesut Ozil was not even in the Arsenal squad for Wednesday night’s defeat to Manchester City and the midfielder has now broken his silence.
Ozil has been a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans so far, but was not involved in the squad – that now features a nine-man bench.
The former Germany midfielder tweeted: “No matter what… #M1Ö @Arsenal”
Arteta said before the defeat that his decision to leave Ozil out of the squad was solely “tactical”.
Gunners to listen to offers for Xhaka and Torreira
Arsenal are willing to sell midfield duo Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Both midfielders have been constant figures in Arteta’s side, but there are rumours of a complete overhaul taking place at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, according to Ornstein, the Gunners are not confident there will be any offers that match their valuations of the players.
Torreira has been linked with a move back to the Serie A, likewise, Xhaka has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga.
