Arsenal evening headlines as Mesut Ozil makes classy gesture and another signing confirmed

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Tuesday 6 October

Ozil offers to pay for Gunnersaurus

Mesut Ozil has offered to pay the full salary of Gunnersaurus, days after the much-loved mascot was sacked by the club.

The Athletic reported that Jerry Quy, who dresses as the prehistoric north Londoner, has had his job axed temporarily due to Covid cuts. But Ozil has stepped up.

"I was so sad that Jerry Quy aka our famous & loyal mascot @Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club was being made redundant after 27 years," Ozil tweeted. "As such, I’m offering to reimburse @Arsenal with the full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player.

“So Jerry can continue his job that he loves so much.”

How to get the best out of Partey

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta landed top target Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in the 11th hour of deadline day.

And for those wondering how the Gunners can get the best out of the £45 million man, his old manager Diego Simeone has already shed light on that.

"Thomas is the one who best understands this position and the transition from defence to attack, shooting, scoring, providing assists and playing passes between the lines," Simeone said in June.

"When he's at his best level consistently, he's so good that all the best teams in Europe are looking at him."

Arsenal confirm Ideho transfer

Amid all the deadline day chaos, a new Arsenal signing slipped under the radar.

The Gunners have signed up 17-year-old Joel Ideho from Ajax, after the player spent a brief time with the Dutch club’s U18’s side.

The winger will now join Arsenal’s Professional Development phase where he is eligible for both the U18s and U23s.

18-year-old striker Nikolai Moller was also announced by Arsenal on Tuesday, and followings Ideho into the youth sides.
