Arsenal evening headlines as Marsch expects Szoboszlai exit, fans react to Eriksen reports

Good evening, Arsenal supporters. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, November 17.

Marsch expects Szoboszlai departure in January

Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai will move in the January transfer window, according to his current manager, Jesse Marsch.

The Red Bull Salzburg midfielder has established himself as one of the brightest young talents in European football, totalling nine goals and ten assists in 27 Austrian Bundesliga games last term and one goal and five assists in seven league games this season.

And now Szoboszlai's manager believes he will make a big-money move this winter, with a host of clubs linked with a transfer.

'Perfect 10' - The Dominik Szoboszlai verdict from Hungarian football expert

“Yes,” Marsh told the Futbol Podcast when asked about whether the 20-year-old would leave in January. “The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter.

“He’s an incredible talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are.”

Arsenal supporters react to Eriksen reports

Arsenal fans believe the club signing Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen would emulate their infamous move for Sol Campbell in 2001.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Denmark international, who left Tottenham last January. According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal have offered Granit Xhaka to the Serie A side in a potential swap deal. And some fans believe it would be the ideal signing to kick their rivals in the teeth.

“I would take that,” one wrote on Twitter in response to the reports. Another added: “If this deal pulls through, it might be like Sol Campbell 2.0”

Not all fans are on board, however. RohanJivan wrote: “Nah, not for me. Eriksen not the same player he was.” Meanwhile, BaloGunnerMan stated: “Xhaka going is great, but getting a player who was least interested to play and wanted out of the team ain’t good either.”

How Arsenal can line up against Leeds

When Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a tricky trip to Leeds United, they may be without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.

Partey is currently recovering from a thigh injury and is still a doubt, while Elneny tested positive for the coronavirus while on duty with the Egypt national team and is self-isolating in Cairo.

For football.london, Chris Wheatley has considered Mikel Arteta’s options across the starting XI should both Elneny and Partey miss out.

He discussed the possibility of inserting Joe Willock into the first team. Willock has impressed in the Europa League this season but is yet to play a single Premier League minute.

Meanwhile, Wheatley writes that Ceballos and Xhaka would be almost certain to start in place of Partey and Elneny in a 4-3-3 shape.

Arteta could also turn to Nicolas Pepe in the front three, with Alexandre Lacazette potentially missing out after his performances declined before the international break.
