Arsenal evening headlines as Gunners lead Luka Jovic transfer race and Kai Havertz told to sign

Arsenal urged to sign Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid

Dietmar Hamann has suggested that Premier League clubs including Arsenal should be taking a look at Bayer Leverkusen prospect Kai Havertz.

The versatile 20-year-old, who has played in midfield and attack for the Bundesliga club this season, was in exceptional individual form before the season was suspended with five goals and five assists in his last eight appearances in all competitions.

“He is an exceptional player, he reminds me of a young Michael Ballack," former Liverpool midfielder Hamann told Sky Sports' Football Show.

James Benge on Aubameyang's transfer fee, Thomas Partey and Saka's future

"He has got that air of arrogance in a good way, he’s just a natural, he’s tall, he’s two-footed, he’s good in the air, he is very versatile and can play in any position.

“I think he is the best player we have got in Germany at the moment. There is talk about teams making a move to bring him to England and Havertz is the one I would be looking at.”

Gunners set to beat AC Milan to Luka Jovic’s signature

It was only a year ago that Luka Jovic was considered one of European football’s hottest prospects, having scored 27 goals in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid signed the young Serbian international striker, but he’s barely had a look-in under Zinedine Zidane this season and they could be set to let him leave after just one season and four La Liga starts.

Reports from Spanish outlet Sport ( via Football365 ), that Arsenal are ahead of AC Milan in the race to sign the 22-year-old.

The article states that with doubts over the future of top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will be in the market for a replacement once the transfer window opens.

Stats released by Arsenal’s official club partner STAT Sports have revealed the most effective high-speed runner in the squad.

It won’t come as too much of a surprise for regular matchgoers who have seen Bukayo Saka bombing up and down the left flank for Arsenal this season that he comes out on top.

The 18-year-old left-back, who is enjoying a breakthrough season with his boyhood club, leads the Arsenal squad in a weekly leaderboard of high-speed running, which is calculated total distance covered at a speed of 5.5 metres per second or above.

Fellow full-backs Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin also in the top eight of a public leaderboard from STAT.
