Arsenal evening headlines as Gunners face battle for Nuno Mendes and Partey explains shirt name

Here are the latest Arsenal evening headlines for Wednesday, October 14.

The reason why Thomas Partey uses his first name on the back of his Arsenal shirt

The arrival of Thomas Partey at Arsenal has spiked excitement among the club’s supporters.

While fans have been desperate for the club to sign Partey all summer, that is not the name that will adorn his new Arsenal shirt. The Ghanian midfielder has worn ‘Thomas’ on the back of his shirt throughout his career, and it has left fans and pundits alike asking why.

Thankfully the player was on hand to clear up any confusion.

“Yeah! I’ve seen that there are Partey’s everywhere and even the photographer asked me why I don’t use Partey on my shirt and I said it’s because I started with Thomas and people are familiar with Thomas, so I need to go with Thomas,” he explained .

The next Bukayo Saka is emerging to finally solve Mikel Arteta’s problem position at Arsenal

Miguel Azeez may not be a name overly familiar to most Arsenal fans, but that is set to change.

Azeez’s performance against League Two Crawley Town has propelled his name into the minds of Gunners fans eager to discuss the next generation.

Two years ago Bukayo Saka and Joe Wllock were those excelling in the EFL trophy, and now Azeez is setting an early benchmark.

Arsenal battling Liverpool and Man Utd for young starlet

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are tracking Sporting Lisbon youngster Nuno Mendes, according to reports.

The left-back has made 11 appearances for the Sporting first-team and notched his first league goal during a win against Portimonense.

Despite being just 18-years-old, he has attracted a price tag of £40.8million with his contract running until 2025.

That hasn’t stopped the English trio taking an interest according to CalcioMercato . Their report states that the trio will provide competition to AC Milan for his signature.
