Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Friday, August 7.
Gunners linked with Real Madrid star
Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez this summer.
That is according to AS, which reports the North London club are considering a move for the Colombian international in order to add creativity to Mikel Arteta's attack.
Rodriguez has a year left on his current contract but the report goes on to state he will not play for current Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane again, leaving the door wide open for Arsenal.
Madrid rivals Atletico also have an interest in the midfielder but Arsenal have shown the strongest signs of making a move for Rodriguez.
Aubameyang close to signing new deal
Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to signing a new deal which would see him stay at the Emirates for three more years.
The Telegraph claim the Gabon international is on the verge of agreeing to a fresh contract after advanced talks with the club’s hierarchy.
The report also states Aubameyang was convinced to stay at the club due to promises of investment being made to the current squad.
A new three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium would see the striker contracted until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Torreira could determine Partey chase
AC Milan are the frontrunners to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Toerrira this summer, and that deal could help the Gunners land Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey.
The Rossoneri are interested in the Uruguayan midfielder, according to the Telegraph, and Arsenal will demand a fee which at least matches the £26million paid for him in 2018.
The departure of Torreira would enhance the Gunners' attempts to sign first-choice transfer target Partey, whose contract contains a £45 million release clause.
Arsenal’s desire to sign a top-level defensive midfielder has resulted in detailed negotiations with Atletico, and additional funds from sales would strengthen their hand.
