Arsenal evening headlines as Gabriel fee agreed and seven players to fund £45m Partey transfer

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Tuesday August 18.

Arsenal agree Gabriel Magalhaes fee

Despite being linked with a move to Manchester United and Napoli, Arsenal have reportedly won the race to sign Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.

Valued at £22million, Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee with Lille, who they have good links with having signed Nicolas Pepe from them last season, and are poised to add another young Ligue 1 centre-back alongside William Saliba.

The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are set to win the race to sign the 22-year-old, who made 24 Ligue 1 performances last season, helping Lille to a fourth-placed finish. Lille conceded 27 goals last season, the joint fourth-best figure in the division.

Arsenal, meanwhile, conceded 48 goals in the Premier League last year and have far from convincing options at the position with Mikel Arteta keen to improve upon his current central defensive players.

Seven players sold to fund Partey move

With Thomas Partey thought to be one of Mikel Arteta’s priorities this summer, in an effort to raise funds and afford his reported €50million release clause, Arsenal are reportedly considering offloading up to seven players.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder is viewed as the ideal holding player in Arteta’s midfield, but his price tag remains troublesome.

As such, Sky Sports report that Arsenal have seven players who could be sold this summer, although offloading all seven in one transfer window will be difficult.

Per the report, the seven players include Matteo Guendouzi, who has fallen out with Arteta and will likely command the greatest fee, and Alexandre Lacazette, who has attracted interest from Juventus and was sporadically dropped for Eddie Nketiah in the closing stages of the season.

The list also includes other squad players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac.

Who is Jonathan Dinzeyi?

Per The Athletic, Arsenal are set to sign young Spurs defender Jonathan Dinzeyi on a free transfer, adding him to the under-23 squad.

Arsenal had already signed Tim Akinola on a free-agent youth deal as well as George Lewis.

With so many youth moves being made as the Gunners continue to roll the dice with potential talent, football.london profiled Dinzeyi, who has bravely crossed the north London divide.

A right-footed 20-year-old centre-back, Dinzeyi was released by Spurs last month without a senior appearance. He did, however, make 24 appearances for the under-18 team, six appearances for the under-23 team, and has been capped by the England under-18s.
