Arsenal evening headlines as Edu could rethink transfer missions and Saka's valuation revealed

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines for Monday 22 March, 2021.

Edu could rethink two transfer missions

With just two right-backs in the current Arsenal squad logic would seem to dictate the if one of Hector Bellerin or Cedric Soares were to leave, then the club would be in the market for another come the summer.

But in recent matches, an unexpected third option has emerged.

Calum Chambers made just his second Premier League start of the season at the London Stadium against West Ham United after being a surprise pick to play at right-back against Burnley a fortnight ago.

Deals for the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Tariq Lamptey or Max Aarons would likely end up costing a sizeable amount, but in Chambers Arsenal have been shown once again they already have a player capable of stepping up to the plate.

And there's a further transfer mission that technical director Edu may have to rethink after Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette combined for a goal on Sunday.

Odegaard praise

Martin Odegaard has come in for a lot of praise following his performance in the 3-3 draw against the Hammers.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Odegaard 's display was "incredible".

And it would appear that both Calum Chambers and Emile Smith Rowe agree with Arteta's assessment of Odegaard's performance at the London Stadium.

Taking to social media after the game, the on-loan midfielder from Real Madrid shared a message with fans as he highlighted his disappointment at not taking all three points.

"Happy with the reaction after a terrible start, but disappointed not to take the 3 points," he wrote on Instagram.

"We keep going."

To which Chambers responded by saying "Wizard!", while Smith Rowe uploaded the 'Goat' emoji which is used to describe someone as the 'greatest of all time'.

Saka's estimated value

The CIES Football Observatory research group has analysed the transfer values of the top assets at clubs in the major European leagues.

Interestingly, Bukayo Saka's estimated value is around £100m-130m, meaning he represents 20% of Arsenal's entire estimated squad value.

This comes after CIES had rated the most promising youngsters worldwide according to the amount of minutes they've played in their respective domestic league.

It also takes into account the level of the team they're playing for Saka topped the list for 2001-born players, ahead of Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood.

Jadon Sancho, Alphonso Davies and Erling Haaland led the way for players born in 2000, whilst Barcelona’s Pedri Gonzalez ahead of St. Gallen’s Leonidas Stergiou are the top youngsters born in 2002.
