Arsenal evening headlines as Danilo issues transfer plea and Partey suffers injury blow

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Tuesday, July 21.

Pereira's "come-and-get-me plea" to Gunners

Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira believes he would fit into Mikel Arteta’s style of play at Arsenal, as he issues a come-and-get-me plea to the Gunners boss.

Pereira is a rumoured target for Arsenal, and at 29 years of age, it seems like the Portuguese defensive midfielder is ready for a fresh challenge.

The Porto star said to Stats Perform News: He (Arteta) is a Spanish coach, he is a bit similar to Portuguese coaches, they also want to play with the ball and improve with the ball, so I think he is a good coach.

"I want to win" - Arteta reveals he wants his Arsenal team to pull no punches against Aston Villa

“The style I think I can fit there, the way he plays also thinking on the ball, the team always has to be together - I think it is a good way to play."

Arteta explains plan for Aubameyang

Arsenal boss Arteta has reiterated his desire to keep star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium, with the 31-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of next season.

Arteta, whilst explaining that he may rest the striker before the FA Cup final, has reiterated his desire to keep the 31-year-old at the Emirates.

Arteta said: “That’s what I did a little bit against Liverpool (rest him), to throw him in a moment in the game which I felt was going to give him a better chance and as well be a bit fresher for the semi-final.

"But these players want to play every single minute, they are so competitive and that’s what makes them so good.

“I don’t know (if there is an option for him to stay without extending). Plan A is to extend his contract and make sure we can keep him here.”

Atleti take on Leipzig on August 13, but will be without one of their star players, Partey, who suffered a muscle strain against Real Sociedad.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer, despite his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano still having three years left.

Spanish publication Marca are reporting that Atletico are still intent on renewing Partey’s contract at the club despite “intense” interest from the Gunners.
