Arsenal evening headlines as Bukayo Saka discovers new position, Luka Jovic transfer latest

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Thursday, June 11.

Gunners fans can’t believe what trio did against Brentford

Arsenal completed another warm-up match on Wednesday, but lost out 3-2 to Championship side Brentford.

Alexandre Lacazette and Joe Willock scored for the Gunners, but the former was at fault for one of Brentford’s goals.

Lacazette needlessly lost possession in his own half before the Bees went on to punish the striker.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

David Luiz was also at blame for one of Brentford’s goals, with the defender trying to flick it over a couple of players’ heads before losing it, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles made a mistake in the winning goal for the winners.

Saka handed new role by Arteta

The rise of Bukayo Saka this season has been one of the brightest features in Arsenal’s somewhat underwhelming campaign, as Alex Richards of the Daily Mirror writes.

Saka’s emergence into the first-team and his rise to becoming one of the most dangerous attackers on the teamsheet is undoubtedly very pleasing for Gunners supporters.

It now looks like Saka, who has been playing as a left-back under Mikel Arteta, can also operate in the No.8 role in midfield.

In Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Brentford, Saka was one of the central midfielders, with Dani Ceballos the deepest, and Willock the other No.8.

Gunners have strong interest in Jovic

Arsenal “strongly want” Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic in the summer, according to Pianeta Milan.

Jovic joined Real Madrid last summer but has failed to impress at the Spanish giants since his big-money move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Gunners are interested in the striker, but as it stands, Jovic would rather join AC Milan and will possibly reject Arsenal and hold out for a move to the Italian club.

Arsenal may have to look elsewhere to bolster their attacking options, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette both linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
