Arsenal evening headlines as Arteta looks to emulate Klopp, Sanllehi told to complete five deals

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Wednesday July 15.

Arteta explains Klopp similarities over transfer plan

Ahead of Arsenal ’s match against champions Liverpool this evening, Mikel Arteta has explained some similarities in what he is trying to do at the Gunners, and what Klopp has already done with the Reds.

Klopp took over at Anfield in 2015 - when Liverpool were fighting in the Europa League and aiming for a Champions League place.

The Reds identified Virgil van Dijk as their number one target in the summer of 2017, but were unable to complete the deal, as Southampton held firm - but instead of panicking and signing another central defender, Klopp waited and finally got his man in January 2018.

Arteta said: “At the end of the day, everything that has to come through our door has to be top, top quality. That is the demands of this football club and it cannot be any different. If we have to wait for the right player in order to do that, let’s wait.”

Sanllehi and Edu told to complete five signings this summer

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell expects the Gunners to sign three players this summer, and believes more could follow eventually.

Arteta will enter his first full season in charge at the Emirates Stadium when the next campaign comes around, and there could be a major squad overhaul.

Campbell said to GentingBet : “Arsenal need four or five players across the board. They need centre-halves, I can see them going for one or two players in that position.

"They also need central midfielders, and more energy across the midfield and either another striker or a wide player. I could see three players coming to Arsenal, dependent on recruitment and the transfer budget - I’m not sure what’s going to happen and I’m not sure who Arteta is looking at.”

Arsenal target raved about

Reported Arsenal target Jeremie Boga has been described as “the best dribbler I’ve ever seen” by Filip Djuricic, when speaking to Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

The former Chelsea youngster has enjoyed a fantastic season in the Serie A for Sassuolo, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists this campaign.

His Sassuolo team-mate Djuricic has heaped praise on Boga, saying: “Honestly, I don’t know any dribblers that are better than him.

“I’ve played with many people, but in beating his man, he’s the best I’ve ever seen.”
