Arsenal evening headlines as Arteta is sent William Saliba message and invincibles comparison

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Wednesday, April 8.

Rumoured targets

While the Premier League remains on hold, nothing can stop the rumour mill from churning, and today is no different.

Inter Milan make a bid for an Arsenal target, the Gunners go after one of the best defenders of the past decade, and a long-time servant of the club generates interest abroad.

Will Arsenal overhaul their defence?

Former striker delivers verdict on Saliba

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell insists that William Saliba must go straight into the Arsenal defence next season.

The Frenchman is set to link up with the Gunners ahead of the 2020/21 season, having signed for Arsenal in a £27million deal last summer before joining French side Saint Etienne on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.

And Campbell has been impressed by the French teenager, who he believes has to start for the Gunners next season as he assessed Arsenal's defensive options.

Wright pays Wenger huge compliment

Ian Wright has admitted that he felt Arsene Wenger looked like a professor when he was first appointed at Arsenal in 1996.

And the former Arsenal striker has said that the Frenchman was "so far ahead of his time" and that he brought out the best in every player he worked with in north London.

Wenger has been named among the top ten managers in the Premier League era following his 22-year spell as Arsenal boss, during which time he took charge of 828 games and had a win ratio of 57.5%, with the Gunners winning three league titles during his time in charge.

Arsenal legend compares Mourinho side with invincibles

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has described the football played by Chelsea during Jose Mourinho's second spell in charge as some of the best he has seen for many years.

Mourinho enjoyed plenty of success during his two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title twice in his first stint, before claiming a third league title in 2014-15 during his second spell.

The Portuguese head coach also had success with Chelsea in the League Cup and FA Cup in the 2006-07 season, while the Blues also won the League Cup in 2004-05 and 2014-15.

Wenger and Mourinho among top ten PL bosses

Former Premier League strikers Alan Shearer and Ian Wright have teamed together to discuss the 10 best Premier League managers of all-time.

On the latest edition of the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast, the trio have discussed some of the greatest-ever managers to grace the Premier League dugouts.
