Arsenal evening headlines as Arteta faces centre back crisis, United threat looms

Here are the Arsenal evening headlines for Monday, October 26.

Mikel Arteta faces Arsenal centre back worries with key fixtures ahead

David Luiz has been ruled out of Arsenal’s Europa League match against Dundalk at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

The former Chelsea defender was subbed off with an injury during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday, and now is set for a scan on the injury.

It leaves Mikel Arteta in a tough position as he looks to construct a makeshift defence ahead of the game on Thursday.

Now Chris Wheatley has looked at Arteta’s potential options, and you can read the piece here.

Ian Wright names the Man United player that Arsenal will have to keep quiet at Old Trafford

Ian Wright has highlighted the threat of Marcus Rashford as Arsenal prepare to travel to Manchester United this coming weekend.

The Gunners will be keen to bounce back after suffering their third league of the season when they took on Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Next up is a trip to face Man Utd, and Wright believes his former club will need to keep an eye on Rashford.

“You look at Manchester United as well who are another team that will want to play on the break,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“You’re going to need to be able to pass through them, be able to break them down. Manchester United will do the same thing [as Leicester] and they’ve got even better players going forward, more than just Vardy.

“It’s a tough one, we knew Leicester were going to be tough and we know Manchester United are going to be tough.

“With the counter-attacking, you look at Arsenal and you can see what happened with Vardy there tonight. Rashford could cause us problems.”

Former Arsenal defender hails Ozil

Laurent Koscielny cannot wait to see former team-mate Mesut Ozil back on the pitch again, whether for Arsenal or someone else, he revealed to French newspaper L'Equipe.

Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad last week, and continues to dominate the headlines in North London.

It means the player is unlikely to see much action before January, but the thought alone of him playing again has former teammate Koscielny excited.

He told L’Equipe : “I hope to see him back on the pitch soon, at Arsenal or elsewhere, because he is real talent.

“As a player, he is in my opinion a phenomenon. He can find passes that no one sees, he’s a maestro. He can rock a game with incredible passes.”
