Arsenal evening headlines as Alexandre Lacazette transfer plans and Dani Ceballos makes promise

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Friday, February 26.

Ceballos issues Arsenal promise

Midfielder Dani Ceballos has vowed to learn from his mistakes following Arsenal's heroic 3-2 victory over Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday evening to progress to the last-16 of the competition.

Ceballos was guilty of making two errors which directly led to Benfica recovering from 1-0 down to go 2-1 up on the night and 3-2 ahead on aggregate, with the Liga Nos club claiming their second goal as a direct result of the Spaniard's weak backwards header, which was aimed for goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Fortunately for the Real Madrid loanee, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on hand to net an 87th minute winner and fire the Gunners into the next round.

What Aubameyang did in training ahead of Benfica

On the mistakes he was guilty of committing, Ceballos said: "This is football and you can always learn from your errors. Up to the next round!

"Thank goodness. Let's go, Gunners.

"Thanks @Aubameyang7."

Gunners handed Olympiacos test

Arsenal's reward for getting past Benfica is a Europa League Round of 16 clash with Greek giants Olympiacos.

The draw for the last-16 of the Europa League was conducted in Nyon on Friday lunchtime and the Gunners were handed a clash with the Greek outfit for the second season in succession.

Last season, the two clubs met at the last-32 stage with Olympiacos getting the better of Mikel Arteta's side and progressing to the next stage on the away goals rule, following a 2-1 win in the second-leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The first-leg of the last-16 tie between the two clubs will be staged in Greece with Arsenal having the home advantage for the second-leg.

Monaco eye Arsenal ace

French outfit AS Monaco are eyeing a summer move for striker Alexandre Lacazette, a report by the Mirror claims.

The Arsenal man, who, of course, has no shortage of experience of playing in Ligue 1, spending 14 years on the books of Lyon before making the switch to north London, is out-of-contract at the end of next season and is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

His situation has alerted no shortage of European clubs, including Monaco, as Arsenal may be prepared to cash in on the France international this summer if he shows no signs of signing a new deal, meaning they will not wish to run the risk of losing him for free in the final few months of his contract.

Despite his talents, Lacazette has found opportunities hard to come by recently, with Arteta preferring Aubameyang to act as the club's out-and-out striker in his favoured 4-2-3-1 system.
