‘Project Big Picture’ plans to impact Arsenal
Plans to reduce the Premier League to 18 teams and establish nine long-term shareholders are set to be proposed, according to a report from the Telegraph .
Liverpool and Manchester United are the driving forces behind ‘Project Big Picture’, which would effectively reshape the structure of the division.
Arsenal, along with the other ‘Big Six’ clubs, would become a long-term shareholder.
That would make the Gunners a part of a group of clubs dictating the direction of the Premier League, able to vote on regulation changes.
Project Big Picture includes a host of other changes to the division , including scrapping the League Cup and Community Shield.
Torreira sends heartfelt message to Arsenal fans after Atletico move
Lucas Torreira has told fans it was a “privilege” to play at Arsenal after his move to Atletico Madrid on loan.
The Uruguayan had fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta, despite enjoying a strong start to his spell at the club.
And he took to social media to thank fans for their support having made the switch to La Liga.
“It was an absolute privilege playing for Arsenal these last two seasons! Thanks a lot! We catch up soon!” Torreira wrote on Twitter.
Murphy hails performances of ‘big occasion’ Arsenal player
Danny Murphy has suggested Ainsley Maitland-Niles should be in the picture to play at wing-back in Gareth Southgate’s England team.
The 23-year-old has impressed for Arsenal after breaking into the team as a regular last season.
And former Liverpool midfielder Murphy has praised his development under Arteta.
“If you told me Ainsley Maitland-Niles would have to play left-back or wing-back in the Euro 2020 final, it wouldn’t worry me because I saw his performances at the end of last season,” he told the Daily Mail.
“He kept Mo Salah quiet and helped Arsenal beat Manchester City and then Chelsea to win the FA Cup at Wembley.
“He’s a player for the big occasion: cool on the ball and doesn’t mind using his left foot higher up the pitch. He defends better one-on-one than people give him credit for. So England’s left-sided problem is not as serious as we once thought.”
