Edu locked in talks over Arsenal’s next transfer as Celtic confirm Odsonne Edouard stance

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Thursday, January 28.

Torreira talks ongoing

Arsenal are said to be in talks with Monaco over a fresh loan deal for midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Torreira is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid but he has barely featured for the La Liga leaders and that could lead him to be recalled by the Gunners this month.

Arsenal are keen to line up another loan deal first and AS say French club Monaco are in talks over taking over the loan deal until the end of the season.

It's reported Valencia have also expressed an interest but talks with Monaco are progressing and it seems like that could be the Uruguayan's most likely destination.

Odegaard reveal's Ceballos' key role in transfer

New Arsenal signing Martin Odegaard has revealed how Real Madrid teammate Dani Ceballos helped convince him to join the club.

Odegaard was confirmed as the Gunners' latest arrival earlier today (Wednesday) after days of speculation, the Gunners signing the Norway international on a loan deal until the end of the season.

It's understood Odegaard requested a temporary move away from the Santiago Bernabeu having featured sparingly for Los Blancos this season despite being tipped to make an impact for the first-team this term.

That triggered interest from a number of clubs but Arsenal came out on top thanks to a phone call from Mikel Arteta and a handy reference from Odegaard's Real Madrid teammate Ceballos, who is in his second year on loan at the Emirates Stadium.

"Yes, [Dani] text me the other day and he had only good things to say about the club, the manager and everything," Odegaard revealed to Arsenal's official website.

"That was also important for me and he was happy for me to come here, so that was a good thing for me, to know someone here and to hear from someone inside the club as well. It’s good."

Edouard update

Arsenal don't appear to be in the race to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this month, but they might have the perfect opportunity this summer.

The Gunners have been regularly linked with a move for the Frenchman during this window and the last, particularly with talk in recent weeks that Edouard could be allowed to leave for a cut fee of £35million with Celtic previously quoting a much higher number.

The 23-year-old only has a year-and-a-half remaining on his contract, and it has been suggested Celtic could have to let him go on the cheap - relatively speaking - to avoid losing him for free 12 months later.

But it seems no such deal is on the table with Celtic boss Neil Lennon confirming that interest for his star striker has not exactly been forthcoming this month.

"There's been no bids for him, there's been no speculation surrounding him this window, there's been no interest in him at all particularly in this window," said Lennon, as cited by the Glasgow Times.

Though, given there is no interest in the striker this month, Arsenal could find themselves with a clean shot at signing the Frenchman in the summer when he will have just 12 months remaining on his deal.
