Arsenal duo named in Garth Crooks' BBC team of the week

Arsenal duo Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka made Garth Crook’s team of the week after their impressive displays in the north London derby.

The Hale End academy graduates put Tottenham to the sword in the first half, with both getting on the scoresheet and assisting each other for their goals.

Arsenal found themselves three goals up inside the first 34 minutes and Crooks noted how well Saka played before being taken off with minutes to go.

On Saka making the team, Crooks told the BBC: “The ovation given to Saka after 87 minutes for his exploits in the north London derby said all you needed to know about his performance.

“I said after his penalty miss in the final of the European Championships that it would be the making of him and I have seen nothing this season to change my mind.”

After the match, Smith Rowe said that it was the best day of his life and Crooks and highlighted the youngsters performance compared to Harry Kane.

“Meanwhile Arsenal have a 21-year-old in Smith Rowe who was prepared to walk over broken glass to win this derby. He said in his post-match interview that it was the best day of his life. Well I hope there are better days to come for this talented youngster. Just not at Tottenham's expense.”

The win made it three in a row for Mikel Arteta following a very poor start to the season where they lost their opening three games.
