Arsenal duo Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin make return from injury for Under-23s vs Wolves

Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin handed Arsenal coach Unai Emery a double fitness boost after returning from injury in an Under-23s match on Friday night.

Tierney, a £25 million summer signing from Celtic, has been prevented from making his competitive debut for the club after being ruled out with a groin problem.

Right-back Bellerin is nearing full fitness again following a serious knee injury which has kept him out for 10 months but had been lacking match practice.

But the duo appear to be closing in on first-team football again after managing 62 minutes in their first game back, before being taken off in a double substitution from coach Steve Bould.

Emery confirmed the pair both would be given a run-out in the Under-23s fixture and the Spanish coach will be relieved after the pair came through unscathed.

Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, 21, also featured as the Gunners were denied victory late on in a 2-2 draw with Wolves.

Two goals from highly-rated American forward Folarin Balogun - either side of Bruno Jordao's strike - appeared to be enough to clinch the three points for the north London side.

But Taylor Perry struck in stoppage time to salvage a point for the hosts.

That result sees Arsenal climb above Chelsea to top the Premier League 2 table as they extend their unbeaten run to six games.
