Arsenal drop Pablo Mari shirt number hint after completing January transfer from Flamengo

Arsenal sealed their first transfer of the January window this week with the arrival of Pablo Mari.

The Gunners have been sort defensively following a number of injuries, with Calum Chambers ruled out for the rest of the season.

And despite being linked with a number of up and coming stars such as Mykola Matviyenko, Raul Sanllehi and Edu have managed to seal a deal with Flamengo for Mari on loan until the end of the season. The Gunners also have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Mari is likely to be in contention for the Gunners' trip to face Burnley on Sunday afternoon, but one thing that remains to be revealed is his shirt number.

Art de Roche on the state of play

The defender had a few different options to pick for his squad number, and though Arsenal are yet to reveal his decision officially, they may just have dropped a big hint on his choice.

The player is listed on the club's official store as No.22, and fans can currently buy his shirt online.

Mari has already given his first interview as an Arsenal player, and revealed his joy at finally completing a move following weeks of links.

"I’m happy to be here today and to have signed for a big club. I’m going to do my best to help my team-mates and the club," he told Arsenal's official website.

"I was pleased. When I spoke to my agent, it was a big thing that Arsenal were interested in me. This is one of the best clubs in the world, so I’m absolutely delighted to be joining. I’m really looking forward to playing in this jersey and helping my team.
