Arsenal players are split regarding a potential return for outcast Mesut Ozil in the New Year.
The Gunners playmaker has been frozen out under Mikel Arteta who omitted him from their domestic and European squads.
Ozil can begin negotiating with other clubs from January 1 with his contract due to expire in the summer.
But Arteta can also add him to the club's playing squad after the January transfer window.
That possibility has been backed by a group of Arsenal's senior players who have been impressed with the German in training, reports the Telegraph.
Ozil's £350,00-a-week wages have been an issue throughout his absence.
Arteta has been criticised for failing to get the best out of the former Real Madrid man, although Unai Emery also struggled to accommodate him.
Arsenal's poor form added more fuel to the fire with their win over Chelsea on Saturday night their first in almost three months.
The 32-year-old though has continued to back the Gunners on social media and praised their young stars following their recent win.
He has called his situation at the Emirates "frustrating" and admitted during a question and answer session that he wanted to help the team.
Any decision to recall Ozil would mark a significant u-turn from Arteta who has previously claimed he gave the midfielder every opportunity to stake his case for involvement.
He said: "What I can tell you (is) that I tried my best, I tried to give him as many opportunities as I could.
"And that from my own side, I've been patient, given him opportunities and been fair.
"He's a player that belongs to a football club, he's been a really important player in the last few seasons. I have to respect that, I'm here to make decisions, the best decisions for the team and for the club.
"This is what I try to do and then I have to explain them because people need the reasons and the right answers."
