Arsenal double injury boost as initial scans provide positive Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard updates

Arsenal have received a boost after Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard’s initial scans on Sunday suggested they have not suffered long-term injuries.

Odegaard and Saka were forced off early during Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

Gunners captain Odegaard suffered a shoulder injury in the first half, while Saka pulled up holding his left hamstring shortly after the break.

Both players were sent for scans on Sunday and Standard Sport understands the results of those are encouraging and positive.

There is optimism that neither injury is significant and the pair will not be out for a long period.

Arsenal will assess the players further this week when they will have a clearer timeline of how long they could be out.

It is currently unknown if the pair will be out of next week’s trip to reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.

Arsenal are also sweating on the fitness of Kai Havertz, who missed the win over Leeds due to a knee issue.

Havertz has been troubled by knee pain since the opening game of the Premier League season at Manchester United.

Arsenal are still assessing the issue and the key decision to be made is whether the German requires surgery or not.

Right-back Ben White also missed the win over Leeds and is a doubt for the trip to Anfield due to a muscle issue.

Midfielder Christian Norgaard has missed both of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season and he will be assessed this week to see if he can make the Liverpool game.
