Arsenal discover release clause of potential Aaron Ramsey replacement

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Hoffenheim's Kerem Demirbay as they prepare for life without Aaron Ramsey .

Gunners boss Unai Emery has supposedly pinpointed Demirbay as a potential replacement for Ramsey, who is set to join Juventus on a free in the summer.

And Emery's interest in the 25-year-old is said to have grown after learning of Demirbay's £22 million release clause.

The Express report that Emery is willing to fork out that amount to bring the German midfielder to the club, as he plans a major summer overhaul at the Emirates.

Emery has so far proved to be an astute operator in the transfer market, having acquired the services of the impressive Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi for fairly modest sums last summer.

Arsenal are not believed to have a wealth of finances at their disposal, meaning Emery has to search for more affordable options to rebuild his squad.

Filling the void that will be left by the departure of Ramsey is priority, and Demirbay's wages are not likely to be close to what the Welshman is currently earning at the club.

In addition, the Gunners are also hopeful that Demirbay's value could increase should he prove a hit in the Premier League.

Demirbay has been a key figure for his side this season, contributing four goals and eight assists in 28 appearances.

Champions League and Europa League permutations - and what it all means for top four

Meanwhile, Arsenal still have a decision to make on the future of loan signing Denis Suarez.

The Spanish midfielder joined the Gunners in January on a temporary switch from Barcelona , but has failed to impress during his time in north London thus far.

Suarez has only made six appearances for Arsenal since his move, which suggests Emery will not be keen on spending a significant sum to make his transfer permanent.

Much of Arsenal's business will depend on the clubs finish to the season, as they chase a top four spot and Europa League success.
