Arsenal defender set to join Stuttgart as Mikel Arteta and Edu prepare second bid for Ben White

Dinos Mavropanos is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Stuttgart for a fee in the region of £7million, football.london understands.

The centre-back has spent last season out on loan at Stuttgart having only made seven Premier League appearances for the Gunners following his 2018 move from PAS Giannina.

Mavropanos made 21 appearances for Stuttgart this season as they finished ninth in Bundesliga, and that loan spell followed a short-term loan with Nurnberg last season, when he managed 11 appearances at the back-end of the campaign.

Talks have been ongoing between Arsenal and Stuttgart since the season ended, with the Greek international not in manager Mikel Arteta's plans going forward.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have made a first offer of £40million for Brighton defender Ben White.

White wants to join the Gunners despite signing a four-year deal at the Amex just last summer.

Technical director Edu wants to bring another centre-back to the club following the departures of David Luiz and Mavropanos.

football.london has learned that Arsenal have made offers for four players this week, and are confident of finalising at least two deals over the next few weeks.

It is believed that White and Albert Sambi Lokonga are the two targets Arsenal are closest to, with the latter subject of a £12.9million bid from the club in recent days.

As first reported by Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws , Anderlecht have turned down an offer of more than €15m (£12.9m), including bonuses for the highly-rated midfielder.

Lokonga impressed for his side in the top-flight last season, scoring three goals and assisting twice for his team-mates over the course of 27 league games, with his performances seemingly catching the eye of Gunners scouts.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new central midfielder with Granit Xhaka set to leave the Emirates Stadium for Italian giants Roma.

Xhaka has agreed personal terms with Roma and will team up with Jose Mourinho, who is known to be a big admirer of the Switzerland international.

football.london understands that the north London club are set for a huge squad overhaul this summer, with numerous players expected to leave and arrive at the Emirates.

Sead Kolasinac is another player on his way out and it's understood that Lazio have firmed up their interest in the Bosnian defender, who will be allowed to leave Arsenal for around £2.5million.
