William Saliba's agent is holding talks with technical director Edu over the Frenchman's future at Arsenal, football.london understands.
The 20-year-old will miss pre-season with Arsenal after he was called up to the France squad for the Olympics games in Tokyo.
Sources close to Saliba have told football.london that they are 'assessing what is best' for the defender ahead of the new season.
Saliba joined the Gunners in 2019 from Saint-Etienne for around £30million, but has not made a single competitive appearance for the club's senior side yet after two successive loan spells.
The defender was loaned to Saint-Etienne after being signed before joining Ligue 1 rivals Nice on a temporary deal last season, where he was named as January Player of the Month in his first few weeks at the club.
When asked by football.london in December when we can expect to see Saliba feature in the first team, Arteta admitted that the defender had made "massive improvements".
However, the imminent signing of Ben White from Brighton has thrown Saliba's future into further doubt, with interest from teams across Europe including Marseille, Nice and Newcastle who have all made loan enquiries for the highly-rated centre back.
Saliba, a boyhood Arsenal fan, picked the club of his dreams over the likes of Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton when he joined the Gunners in 2019.
