Arsenal defender drops Instagram hint over Mikel Arteta's team selection vs Man United

Cedric Soares looks set to miss out on the Arsenal matchday squad for this afternoon's clash against Manchester United.

The right-back has been used in more of a backup role to Hector Bellerin so far this season, with all of his appearances coming when the Spaniard has been rested.

Cedric did start on Europa League matchday one against Rapid Wien, although he was substituted on the hour mark and looked on as his Arsenal teammates came from behind to seal a 2-1 win.

Then after being left out against Leicester City last weekend, the 29-year-old returned to the starting XI for the 3-0 win over Dundalk in midweek and played the full 90 minutes.

But did Cedric do enough to impress manager Mikel Arteta and earn a start for the big game at Old Trafford?

Well, it looks like that won't be the case if Cedric's Instagram is are anything to go by.

Usually, when the right-back is in a matchday squad, he takes to social media and does his best to hype up the upcoming game.

He did this as recently as this week - ahead of the Europa League clash against Dundalk.

Surprisingly he has not been active on Instagram ahead of the clash against the Red Devils, which would suggest Cedric has not made a Premier League matchday squad yet again.

Arteta does have some injury concerns in defence ahead of today's game and he's spoken of the attacking threat at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's disposal.

"They create really good relationships and they are all very different," Arteta said. "They glide together, they have some really good understanding and chemistry on the pitch. You can see that.

"I think that since the lockdown, Ole has managed to improve that a lot and you can see that at the end of the season, the amount of goals and types of goals they were scoring.

"They are a threat.

"They can play two or three different formations. We know that they've been changing some things because of the opponents sometimes, because of the quality of the players they have, and sometimes to change the game in certain moments.

"We have to be prepared for that because they have that adaptability, they have a big squad and upfront they have a lot of options as well to do different things."
