Dinos Mavropanos has been called up to the Greek national team for their upcoming World Cup qualification matches against Spain and Georgia.
The 23-year-old centre back, currently on loan at Stuttgart, was nominated Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for February and has impressed at the helm of the German side's defence.
Mavropanos, whose contract runs until 2023 with Arsenal, was called up for Greece's friendly against the United States last year but the game was cancelled due to coronavirus.
It's been a positive month for the defender who was recently lauded by former Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, the man who initially signed Mavropanos for the club in 2018.
"He has all the hardware and all the software to be a great defender. He has been unfortunate, he’s got a lot of injuries," said Mislintat, who is now Stuttgart's sporting director.
"If he can stabilise physically, he’s undoubtedly a Bundesliga-level defender. He’s one of the fastest centre-backs in the league alongside Dayot Upamecano. A super guy, a model professional."
"You have to admire his energy, all the strength it took to get over his injuries.
"We’re super happy that he’s been a regular starter in recent weeks. We would like to keep him on loan one more season, if possible. But that will be down to Arsenal."
football.london understands that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keeping a close eye on Mavropanos and fellow loanee William Saliba, as he looks to track their development ahead of the players returning for pre-season this summer.
