Kieran Tierney has agreed a new five year contract with Arsenal which he will sign in the coming days, football.london understands.
The 24-year-old made 27 Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season, and was one of the positives as Mikel Arteta's side finished eighth in the league.
Former Celtic man Tierney is happy in London and it's understood that technical director Edu will now present a proposed contract offer for the Arsenal board to sign off.
Arteta has previously said that Tierney possesses the ingredients to become Arsenal captain one day.
“I think he can be Arsenal captain as he has the respect and admiration of every member of the staff and every player,” he said.
“It is just the way he is. He does it in a natural way. He is a really shy boy as well but he represents all of us in the club; all of the values that we want to instill and are in the DNA in this club.”
football.london understands that Arsenal are also in the market for a back-up left-back this summer, with the club keen on signing a younger profile of player.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are confident that Emile Smith Rowe will commit to a new contract.
Contrary to recent media reports however, the England youngster is not 'close' to signing an extension.
