Arsenal decide against coronavirus step after players come into contact with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

Arsenal players will reportedly not be tested for coronavirus after their game against Manchester City was postponed.

The game was put back after Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis contracted the illness.

Marinakis attended the Gunners' Europa League defeat to Olympiacos, who he also owns, on February 27.

The BBC say fewer than five Arsenal players are in self isolation, along with some Arsenal staff, after they were in contact with Marinakis for a prolonged period.

Their Premier League game against City might be off, but the fixture against Brighton on Saturday is on track to go ahead.

Forest's players and staff have been tested, with all of those coming back negative. That is also the case with Olympiacos' players and staff.

"Nottingham Forest can confirm that all players, staff and officers have been tested for the coronavirus and all results have come back negative.

"Within hours of receiving the news that owner Evangelos Marinakis had tested positive for the virus, the club took swift action to arrange tests for the entire first-team players, staff and officers that came into contact with the owner last week," a Forest statement said.

The Reds and the EFL have yet to comment on if Saturday's game at Sheffield Wednesday will go ahead as planned, but the parties are in regular dialogue as they liaise with medical experts.

Six people with the virus have died in the UK, where there has been a total of 382 cases at the time of writing.
