Arsenal dealt triple injury blow ahead of Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid

Arsenal have been dealt a triple blow after Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber missed training ahead of their Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners host Diego Simeone's side on Tuesday night, with the semi-final tie locked at 1-1 after a draw in Madrid a week ago.

Havertz missed that match due to a muscle injury he picked up against Newcastle, but the German avoided serious injury.

Odegaard was replaced just before the hour mark in the first leg with Atletico due to knee discomfort.

That has been a persistent issue for the Arsenal captain in recent months and he was absent for the statement win over Fulham on Saturday.

However, Mikel Arteta indicated after that match that both were pushing to feature in the second leg against Atletico.

"I think so, the both of them [will be available]," Arteta told beIN Sports.

"They are going to do everything, we are going to do everything to have them ready."

That does not look like a possibility now after neither Havertz and Odegaard were involved in training on Monday morning.

There was also no sign of Timber, who continues to battle a groin injury.

He has not played since Arsenal beat Everton in March. Timber was in attendance on Saturday, watching from the sidelines as his team-mates warmed up and then joining them on the pitch after the match.

Arteta will provide a full team news update at his press conference on Tuesday evening.
