Arsenal dealt further blow as defender tests positive for coronavirus ahead of Leeds United game

Arsenal have been dealt a blow ahead of facing Leeds United with the news that Sead Kolasinac has recorded a positive coronavirus test while on international duty.

The 27-year-old returned a positive test on Wednesday morning along with Bosnia and Herzegovina teammate Ibrahim Sehic.

It means he will miss his country's Nations League clash with Italy and will have to self-isolate.

Unless the test is proven to be a false positive, it also means the defender will be ruled out of the Gunners' trip to Leeds on Sunday, with government rules saying people with coronavirus have to self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days depending on symptoms.

Should Leeds United replace Kiko Casilla in January?

It is the latest blow for Arsenal ahead of the trip to Elland Road on what is proving to be an eventful international break for their players.

Midfielder Mohamed Elneny is also self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 whilst on duty with Egypt and is currently in Cairo, ruling him out of facing Leeds.

The 28-year-old tested positive ahead of facing Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match and is currently showing no symptoms.

Elneny has impressed with Arsenal this season, featuring in five of their eight matches so far this season, meaning his absence against Leeds will be a blow.

Alongside this, key Gunners player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was forced to spend the night sleeping on an airport floor with the Gabon squad ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Gambia.

Gabon were told they were not allowed to leave the airport due to an administrative problem, which led to them being forced to spend the night on the floor before being allowed to leave after a government intervention.

Meanwhile, Willian will have to provide a negative coronavirus test before being allowed to train with the Gunners squad after flying to Dubai during the international break.

The Brazilian winger was pictured with restaurant owner Nusret Gokce - known for the Salt Bae meme - on Monday night before returning to England.

Arsenal are reportedly trying to get to the bottom of Willian's trip but the Brazilian winger will not have to self-isolate.
