Arsenal dealt fresh transfer blow as ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ set for £12.8m move

After missing out on Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa earlier this summer, Arsenal could be set to be frustrated by another Midlands club in their search for recruits.

According to A Bola, Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to sign former Gunners target Kaio Jorge this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been linked with the Brazilian wonderkid in the past, with reports earlier this year suggesting that Edu was aiming to replicate his trick with Gabriel Martinelli by bringing a promising Brazilian to the Emirates Stadium.

At just the age of 19, Kaio has forged his reputation with Santos and has scored six goals in 21 matches in all competitions this year - this after netting five goals throughout the 2020 edition of the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League, as the Brazilian outfit reached the final.

His talents have been widely recognised in his homeland having already been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is reported that Wolves have tabled a £13million offer for the striker in an effort to bring him to Molineux, with his contract set to expire at the end of the calendar year.

News of their bid will of course be bad news for the Gunners, who may need to bring in attacking recruits this season.

After netting just 55 goals last season - the lowest since 1995 - Arsenal could be set to lose a couple of their main attacking threats.

French forward Alexandre Lacazette could be sold this summer in order for the Gunners to finance their own arrivals. Meanwhile, captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly under consideration by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Arsenal have already been linked with Kaio’s countryman Yuri Alberto this summer.
