Arsenal dealt double injury blow as Willian delivers big warning

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Thursday, April 8.

Arsenal dealt Tierney blow

Arsenal have been dealt a crushing injury blow after the extent of Kieran Tierney’s injury was revealed this afternoon.

Tierney was forced off after 46 minutes during the Gunners ’ crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on the weekend, leaving supporters concerned.

The Scottish full-back has been one of the bright sparks of an otherwise disappointing season for Arsenal, making 33 appearances across all competitions and also impressing on the international stage.

But Mikel Arteta will now have to do without his starting left-back after it was confirmed Tierney will miss up to six weeks of action after suffering ligament damage to his knee.

The club’s release read: “Kieran sustained ligament damage to his left knee during Saturday’s match against Liverpool.

“Surgery will not be required and it’s hoped that Kieran will be back in full training within four to six weeks.”

Gunners sweat on Odegaard

Not only will Arsenal be without Tierney on Thursday, but they may also be missing key midfielder Martin Odegaard.

"We will assess him today how he’s feeling," Mikel Arteta said. "He’s been carrying an injury for the last few days since he got injured with the national team."

The Arsenal injury release read: "Martin has been experiencing discomfort to his right ankle since being on international duty.

"Martin is being assessed ahead of Thursday’s match regarding his availability."

Willian's Slavia warning

Arsenal star Willian has warned his teammates over the threat Slavia Prague pose ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash.

The Gunners face Slavia at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of their quarter-final, but while many saw it as a favourable draw, Willian has been pretty clear about the threat that faces Arsenal.

"Yeah it’s gonna be a big game it’s gonna be a very difficult game. We know how difficult it’s gonna be.

"They have a good team, they have a team that play very aggressive you know so we have to be ready for that. We have to do the job at home play well and then we have to go there and qualify."
