Arsenal dealt Alexandre Lacazette injury blow as Kieran Tierney's potential return date revealed

Arsenal have provided an injury update on Alexandre Lacazette, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park.

The Gunners' busy schedule continues with their Europa League hopes still alive heading into the second leg on Thursday evening at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal lost 2-1 to Villarreal on Thursday, but Nicolas Pepe did manage to grab an away goal from the spot before Castellon.

And Mikel Arteta's men also squeezed in a training session before leaving the Valencian region and flying straight to the north east for their Premier League outing against the Magpies.

Arsenal have offered an injury update ahead of Sunday's clash, and Lacazette remains out after failing to return in time to face Villarreal in the first leg, despite being in contention.

"Left hamstring. Alex [Lacazette] is responding well to treatment and is starting to integrate back into full training," the update read.

"Alex will be unavailable for Sunday’s match, but will continue to work hard with the aim of being in contention for Thursday’s match against Villarreal."

Meanwhile, there is positive news on David Luiz, with the update adding: "Right knee. David is now back in full training and is in contention to be involved in Sunday’s match."

There's another boost with Kieran Tierney returning to contention despite missing out on Thursday.

"Left knee. Kieran continues to make good progress and is now integrating back into full training," read the update on the Scot.

"Kieran will be assessed regarding his availability for Sunday’s match."

It has also been confirmed there are no further injury setbacks from the Villarreal clash, and Dani Ceballos is eligible to play with his red card only ruling him out of the Europa League.
