Arsenal could pull off £39.9m transfer masterstroke in the January window

Arsenal could pull off a transfer steal this month by bringing Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt to the club on a cut-price deal.

Brandt has been linked with a move to the Gunners during this window, along with Norwich City star Emilian Buendia with both players occupying similar positions.

Mikel Arteta is set to add more creativity to his side and both players could offer that, able to play in an attacking midfield role as well as out wide.

The Buendia links just won't go away, but aware of the star they have in their ranks, Championship high-flyers Norwich are standing firm over their £40million valuation,

If Arsenal take the initiative they can land Emi Buendia

And that could lead Arsenal to look elsewhere despite talk of a player-plus-cash deal involving a player like Reiss Neilson, or perhaps Joe Willock.

If indeed Arteta does turn his attention elsewhere, it seems Brandt could be an option, and the German could save the Gunners a sizable chunk of cash.

That's because football.london understands Dortmund could part ways with Brandt for around €25million (£22.57million), which is significantly lower than what the player is valued at.

CIES - otherways known as the Football Observatory - values Brandt at a staggering €69.3million (£62.56million) with the 24-year-old under contract until 2024 at Dortmund.

And even a conservative valuation from Transfermarkt sits at €35million (£31.57million) which means any way you cut it, Arsenal would get getting themselves a bargain at the transfer fee quoted.

In fact, going from the Football Observatory valuation, Arsenal would be getting a bargain worth roughly £39.99million or more than £9million going by Transfermarkt.

That could go some way into making Arteta and Edu's decision for them, particularly given the staggering figure Norwich are asking for in the case of Buendia.

Dortmund actually bought Brandt for €25million (£22.57million) from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2019 and he has since made 46 league appearances, including 13 this season, also winning 35 caps for Germany across his still-young career.
